These terms cover your use of My Guidebook Buddy ("the service"), operated by Orana Software ("we", "us", "our"). By signing up for a guidebook or using the service, you agree to these terms. We've tried to keep them readable.
Who can use the service
The service is intended for property managers, owners, and operators of accommodation businesses — hotels, vacation rentals, B&Bs and similar — who want to provide a guest guidebook. You confirm you have the authority to sign the property up.
What we provide
- A hosted guest guidebook generated from your property's website and the surrounding area.
- A short link and QR code your guests can use to open the guidebook.
- A leave-behind PDF you can print and place in your property.
- A dashboard for you to see scan and engagement activity.
Free service, commercial model
The guidebook is free for the property and free for guests. There is no contract, no setup fee, and no minimum term. We fund the service through commissions earned from local experience, tour, and dining providers when guests book through the guidebook.
Because the commercial model depends on bookable experiences existing in your area, we reserve the right to decline new signups in regions where we can't offer guests a meaningful set of experiences. In those cases we may direct you to Orana Stay, our paid sister product, which has no such dependency.
Your responsibilities
- Provide accurate property information, including a working website URL we can use as the source for guidebook content.
- Keep your contact information up to date so we can reach you about your guidebook.
- Don't use the service for anything illegal, abusive, or that infringes someone else's rights.
- Don't try to scrape, reverse engineer, or attack the service.
Content and intellectual property
We retain all rights in the My Guidebook Buddy platform, software, brand, and generated guidebook templates. You retain all rights in your property's content — your website copy, photos, and property data. By signing up, you grant us a licence to use that content for the purpose of generating and serving your guidebook.
Curated local content (place descriptions, photos, recommendations) is provided by us or our partners. It is provided to your guests as part of the guidebook; you don't need to license it separately, and you can't republish it outside the guidebook without our written agreement.
Experience bookings
When a guest books a tour, dining experience, or activity through the guidebook, the booking contract is between the guest and the experience provider. We are not the experience provider. We may earn a commission on the booking. We do our best to surface reputable operators but we don't warrant the experiences themselves.
Availability
We host the service on Microsoft Azure and aim for high availability, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service. We may take the service offline for maintenance, upgrades, or to protect it from abuse. For a free service, we don't offer a contractual uptime SLA — if you need one, talk to us about Orana Stay.
Suspension and termination
You can ask us to remove your guidebook at any time by emailing hello@myguidebookbuddy.com. We may suspend or terminate a guidebook if a property breaches these terms, becomes inactive, or if continuing to host it isn't commercially viable for us. We will give you reasonable notice where we can.
Warranties and liability
The service is provided "as is". We don't warrant that the guidebook content will be perfectly accurate, that every experience will run on time, or that the service will meet every need. To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the fees you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim — which, for the free tier, is zero. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited under applicable consumer law.
Privacy
Our handling of personal information is covered in our Privacy policy.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves or laws change. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top, and for material changes we will email account holders. Continued use of the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, where Orana Software is based. We agree to try to resolve any dispute informally first by contacting hello@myguidebookbuddy.com.
